CT OE-2 Operating Engineers License Review and Exam Preparation

MONDAYS: January 27; February 3, 10, 24; March 2, 9, 16, 2020

 

Description

Designed for individuals planning to test for the State of Connecticut Operating Stationary Engineer- OE-2 certification.

 

In the interest of company & corporate leaders wishing to comply with the State of CT law and associated plant operation regulations, to avoid legal consequences of unlicensed operators during plant casualty or staff injury as well as other insurance related operations compliance risk.

 

Learning Objectives 

  • Fundamentals review in operations of boilers, chillers and associated peripheral equipment, including pumps, motors, controls, sensing and monitoring equipment.
  • Understanding the nature of the OE-2 exam and an efficient approach to preparing to take it: including daily assessments, practical exam questions, proven successful study guidance, personal mentoring or assistance in specific areas of challenge.
  • Detailed review of Boiler concepts, equipment and systems, (first 4 of 7 classes):  including combustion systems, fuels, combustion controls and safety, boiler trim, pressure parts, federal and state regulations, steam and condensate systems, water treatment systems, steam turbines, heat exchangers, valve and aperture requirements.
  • Detailed review of refrigeration and chiller concepts and equipment: including thermodynamic fundamentals, definitions, refrigeration cycle and conventional controls, large utility chiller systems, absorption systems and concepts, refrigeration safety.
  • Fundamental review of electrical principals and common practical electric equipment: including generators, motors, transformers, basic circuits and power analysis as well as safety and common conventions associated with plant equipment.

Instructor Bio

Jonathan VanDine, President, Building Performance Engineering

Jonathan VanDine has over thirty years of licensed hands-on, supervisory and administrative experience with power plants, boiler plants and chiller plants. Every major aspect of electrical, mechanical, auxiliary and control platform commonly used in the plant operation environment has been part of the career long experience. This expertise provides a rich consultation ability in plant performance and compliance. BPE serves plant integration contractors as an engineering and operating consultant, as well as plant operations trainer.

 

Each participant will receive

  • A copy of the Boiler Operator's Exam Preparation Guide textbook
  • A Study Binder containing hundreds of practice questions and daily assessments in multiple subject areas throughout the course 

NOTE: This workshop requires a minimum number of 6 participants.  In-person attendance is required.

Continuing Educational Credit

Construction Institute is a CCM Recertification Point Provider. Course attendees are eligible to receive 2.8 Continuing Education Units and 28 CCM Renewal Points verified through certificates of attendance, which are sent to participants after completion of workshop and assessment. Course attendees wishing to receive CCM Renewal Points should check in at the sign-in desk and fill out the appropriate attendance form(s) to receive credit.
