In the “Me Too” era, training your employees about sexual harassment in the workplace has never been more important. This course is intended to provide supervisory and management level employees with the knowledge of how to avoid, recognize and remedy sexual harassment in the workplace. CEUs: Course attendees are eligible to receive 0.2 Continuing Education Units or 2 AIA Continuing Education Learning Units.

Sexual Harassment Training for Management and Supervisors

 

Description

“Sexual harassment” will be defined, the law will be explained and managers will learn how to address suspected sexual harassment in the workplace. The course will also provide instruction regarding how to investigate sexual harassment complaints and remedy sexual harassment when it does occur in the workplace. Anyone who supervises other employees in the workplace is welcome and encouraged to attend.

 

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the meaning of “sexual harassment”

  • Identify conduct that constitutes “sexual harassment”

  • Prevent sexual harassment in the work place

  • Investigate and remedy sexual harassment in the workplace

NOTE: It is recommended that all supervisory and management level employees attend sexual harassment training. Connecticut law requires that all employers with 50 or more employees provide sexual harassment training to all employees who supervise at least one (1) other employee. This course is intended to meet those requirements.


 

Instructor Bio

 



Johanna G. Zelman, Attorney at Law, FordHarrison

Johanna Zelman is the office managing partner for FordHarrison's Hartford, Connecticut office.

 

Johanna's background in employment law, and specifically in the Construction industry and in the public sector, results in highly competent, in-depth and knowledgeable advice and representation for her clients. While she has represented a wide variety of employers from various industries, Johanna has a specific strength in matters arising in the construction and municipal employment setting and in public schools and universities. Johanna represents construction, engineering, HVAC, contracting and architectural companies and firms in a wide array of matters, from consulting to litigation.

Johanna is highly effective in defending fact-intensive and highly complicated counseling and litigation matters related to employment, general civil rights and Special Education.

Johanna has litigated matters and successfully defended employers before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Connecticut Supreme, Appellate and Superior Courts. She has also represented employers and school districts before various state and federal administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the Connecticut State Department of Education the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission, the Connecticut Workers' Compensation Commission and the United States, New York and Connecticut Departments of Labor.

 

Johanna received her undergraduate degree from Connecticut College and law degree from the University of Connecticut. She is admitted to the practice of law and Connecticut and New York.

Continuing Educational Credit

Construction Institute is an AIA Registered Provider.  Course attendees are eligible to receive 0.2 Continuing Education Units and/or 2 AIA Continuing Education Learning Units, verified through certificates of attendance, which are sent to participants after completion of workshop and assessment.

 

Course attendees wishing to receive AIA Continuing Education Learning Units should check in at the sign-in desk and fill out the appropriate attendance form(s) to receive credit.
