A FACILITIES MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM REQUIREMENT

Description

 

This workshop covers the design and development process from initial planning and needs assessment through final design documents and construction administration.

 

Learning Objectives 

  • Learn to manage all aspects of the design and planning process.
  • Learn the project management process, its component parts, how they interrelate.
  • Discuss needs assessment, design team selection, design contracts, estimating and budgeting, scheduling, and program development.
  • Learn practical tools to improve the successful application of the project management process within the capital facility project process.

  

Instructor Bio

 

Mark Adams, MS, MBA, PM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP 

Mark Adams is a subject matter expert in the field of Capital Project and Program Management; and previously with C3 Consultancy, a Project Management Office (PMO) Veteran-owned startup that represents Owners and their Capital Investments Programs and Projects.

 

Professionally, Mark started his career serving in the United States Air Force where he was the Owner’s Representative for the Air Force on their construction and infrastructure projects across the globe.

 

After leaving the Air Force, Mark went to work with Whiting-Turner (WT) Contracting, Co, a top 25 ENR nationally ranked Construction Management firm. At WT, Mark started as a Superintendent working in the field managing trade contractors on project valued up to $500M before advancing his skill sets in Project Management. Mark’s duties included scheduling, vendor management, quality control, safety and risk management, and representing the interests of numerous clients for 12-years before advancing to his next career move.

 

After WT, Mark went to Alexion Pharmaceuticals Real Estate group to serve as their Director of Global Capital Project Management. At Alexion, Mark’s responsibility was strategic in developing a Real Estate portfolio of global projects and developing and implementing a structured Capital Program; and tactical in managing high-profiled projects; such as, the flagship headquarters in New Haven, CT. Mark’s role was essential in developing a structured and robust program for the Real Estate, that didn’t previously exist.          

 

Educationally, Mark has a:

  • MBA from the University of Connecticut in Management and Finance
  • MS from Central Connecticut State University in Construction Management
  • BS from University of New Haven in Civil Engineering
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute

Construction Institute is an AIA Registered Provider, CCM Recertification Point Provider and NYS approved sponsor of CE - NYS sponsor # 9040.

 

Course attendees are eligible to receive 0.4 Continuing Education Units, 4 CCM Renewal Points, 4 Professional Development Hours and/or 4 AIA Continuing Education Learning Units, verified through certificates of attendance, which are sent to participants after completion of workshop and assessment.
