An Alternative Approach to Hiring in a Down Economy
Staffing needs during the current economic climate are very different from what they were just one year ago. Many firms have had to make the difficult decision to lay off valuable and veteran employees to coincide with a diminished cash flow and shrinking pipeline of work. They are not alone. With the national unemployment rate reaching its highest level since December 1983, companies across the count - and in diverse sector - have been forced to re-examine their workforce and staffing needs, and many have had to reduce their workforce accordingly.

Working with Generation Y and Z
The next generations of employees are coming soon to an office near you. As many as 70 million Generation Y employees are embarking on their careers and entering the workforce for the first time. Generation Z is right on their heels. Generation Y, generally classified as anyone born between 1980 and the year 2000, and Generation Z, anyone born in 2001 or later, possess a different work style than generations before them.

The Construction Institute Golf Classic is reaching its landmark 15th year and as part of the celebration, players can golf for the same price that they paid in 2003! Tunxis Plantation Golf Course in Farmington will once again play host to the CT A/E/C Industry's largest one day golf event.

  DuBose Associates Architects received the 15th Annual Board of Trustees of Connecticut Community Techincal Colleges Merit Award for extraordinary service. DuBose was honored for their design of buildings in Phase 1 of the Tunxis Community College Campus Expansion.
  Tonya Baethge, Senior Interior Designer, OFI, recently passed both the LEED AP and NCIDQ exams.
  Lauren Dabek joined Vanasse, Hangan, Brustlin Inc. (VHB) as Marketing Coordinator.
  Diane DeGray joined the Hartford Business Journal as Senior Accounts Manager. Diane serves on CI's marketing committee.
  Beth Haas, CPSM, Marketing Coordinator for JCJ Architecture received the Grace Waldvogel Member of the Year Service Award at the recent SMPS Connecticut Chapter Annual Meeting.
  Geryl Rose, APR, of G2 Marketing Resources, LLC, was certified by the Society for Marketing Professional Services as CPSM. Geryl services CI's marketing committee. 
  Jon Schlesinger joined Tecton Architects as Marketing Coordinator.
