On Thursday, June 25th the Construction Institute honored three outstanding individuals for their service to the Institute and the A/E/C Industry.
2009 Honorees
Marvin B. Morganbesser - Special Lifetime Recognition Award
Marvin Morganbesser was President and Council for the Connecticut Construction Industries Association (CCIA) from 1977 until his retirement in 2008. A part of the CT’s construction industry for over 40 years, he presided over the largest-staffed construction association in Connecticut.
Marvin is a founding member of the Construction Institute and continues to be an important contributor to the organization. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors and is a valued participant in the Institute’s Strategic Planning process.
We celebrate Marvin Morganbesser for his outstanding contributions to the state’s construction industry, to the Construction Institute, University of Hartford, and his continued commitment to his community.
John B. Farnham - Distinguished Achievement Award
John Farnham is a tireless advocate for the construction industry in Connecticut. He has served as Executive Director for Associated General Contractors of Connecticut (AGC) since 1991.
John has been involved with the Construction Institute for over 15 years, serving on the Board of Advisors since its formation as the Board of Governors. As part of the Program Committee he has been invaluable in organizing and coordinating CI’s annual State of the State program. He is currently heading a special task force investigating expansion opportunities for the Institute.
We honor John Farnham for his achievements, his outstanding professionalism and integrity, for his contributions to the state’s construction industry, and for his service to his community and the people of Connecticut.
Deborah Laviero - Distinguished Service Award
Deborah Laviero, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for OFI, is known for her extensive involvement with several industry organizations including the ACE Mentoring Program CT which she has promoted since its inception in 2000.
Debbie’s service to the Construction Institute began in 1999, when she was Program Coordinator and later Assistant Director. Her continued involvement has included serving on several Boards and Committees. She is currently Co-Chair of the Membership Committee. She is an ardent promoter of the Institute and one of the organization’s most genuine and enthusiastic ambassadors.
We recognize Deborah Laviero for her tireless dedication, her dynamic presence, and her continued contributions to the Construction Institute.
