CI Trend Watch 2008-09

Committee Profile: The Program Committee

Published Mon, Sep 22, 2008 12:05 am

The Program Committee, chaired by Derek Mogck of Shipman and Goodman, LLP, plans and presents the Construction Institute's Major Programs. The committee is made up of a cross section of the Institute's membership including Architects, Engineers and CMs, as well as Legal, Marketing and other service providers.

The 14th Annual State of the State event kicks of the Major Program Season and the Institute's Economic Issues Series which also includes the I-91 and I-95 Regional Construction Forecasts. These "Where's the Work" programs discuss public and private projects around the state and region.

The "Winds of Change" Construction Issues Series features topics concerning technology in the construction and design industries, as well as specific trends and issues that affect our members.

On Wednesday, December 10, the Annual Owners' Forum will look at "Life-Cycle Decision Making... Lowest Cost is Not Necessarily the Best Cost", while the March 26 program will address Critical Energy Issues in Design and Construction. Also in the works are: a follow-up to last season's BIM Modeling and Integrated Project design programs; and a new program about the local impact of global trends in the construction industry.

The Program Committee welcomes feedback and suggestions for new or improved programs. Ideas can be shared with any Program Committee members listed on the CI website.
