This introductory AutoCAD training is perfect for beginners or someone with limited experience using AutoCAD. Participants will learn the fundamental commands that are used in the program, as well as how to create drawings using a variety of shapes utilizing many of the tools and commands. 4 session workshop series running Mondays – March 12, 19, 26 and April 2, 2018 from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM CEUs: Course attendees are eligible to receive 0.6 Continuing Education Units.

Introduction to AutoCAD

Description

 

This introductory AutoCAD training is perfect for beginners or someone with limited experience using AutoCAD.

 

Participants will learn the fundamental commands that are used in the program, as well as how to create drawings using a variety of shapes utilizing many of the tools and commands.Through lecture, demonstration and hands-on exercises, participants will become familiar with AutoCAD’s tools, their location, and most importantly how to use them efficiently.

  • Gain an overview of AutoCAD and its capabilities
  • Navigate the AutoCAD user interfaces
  • Use the fundamental features of AutoCAD
  • Present drawings in a detailed and visually impressive way

Instructor Bio

Matt Wunch, BIM/Technology Manager, AI Engineers, Inc.

Matt received his Associates in Science in Civil Engineering from Springfield Technical Community College and currently provides BIM implementation, training, and technical support for AI Engineer’s design software including Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Navisworks and more. Matt has more than 25 years of experience with Autodesk software usage, installation and customization. He also supports the design team and their use of Leica scanners – P40 and BLK360 – for the collection and conversion of point cloud data for use in InfraWorks, Civil 3D and Revit. In addition, Matt is a member of the Autodesk Expert Elite program, a member of the Planning Committee of the Construction Institute's BIM Council, certified in Autodesk Building Performance Analysis, and is a Certified Professional in all versions of Revit – Architecture, Structure, MEP Mechanical and MEP Electrical, and has recently earned his UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) license. He has also presented at the BIM Council and at Autodesk University in Las Vegas (2015 & 2017).

 

Target Audience

People in the industry who have little/some knowledge of AutoCAD; or who use the software occasionally.  Participants must have a good working knowledge of computers, operating systems, using a mouse, keyboard, standard menus and commands. Participants must be able to open, save, and close applications and files, as well as navigate to other folders.

 

NOTE:  In-person attendance is required. This workshop will take place on the University of Hartford main campus.  Directions and parking pass will be sent to participants a week prior to the start of the first session.

Continuing Educational Credit

Construction Institute is a CCM Recertification Point Provider. Course attendees are eligible to receive 0.6 Continuing Education Units and 0.6 CCM Renewal Points verified through certificates of attendance, which are sent to participants after completion of workshop and assessment. Course attendees wishing to receive CCM Renewal Points should check in at the sign-in desk and fill out the appropriate attendance form(s) to receive credit.
