Retrofitting Building Systems for Energy Conservation
POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER
RESCHEDULED TO APRIL 26, 2013
This workshop will cover how building owners and operators can put into action a variety of strategies in existing buildings to achieve dramatic energy savings and improve environmental conditions for users and employees. Many of the strategies can be easily implemented that will result in immediate energy and water cost savings. During the course of the workshop a hypothetical building will be reviewed as a baseline case study. A life cycle cost analysis will illustrate the benefits of applying these types of strategies over the expected life of a building.
Among the topics to be discussed:
1. HVAC Systems: controls, air systems, and water systems
2. Plumbing Systems: low flow water fixtures, hot water systems, rain water collection and reuse, waste water reuse
3. Lighting Systems: lamp/light fixture selection, lighting controls and dimming, and day lighting strategies
4. Renewable Energy Sources: photovoltaic, solar domestic hot water, wind energy
