Associate Vice President of Facilities Management - UCONN Health Center
Cliff Ashton is currently the Associate Vice President of Facilities Management and Operations at UConn Health. At UConn Health, Cliff is responsible for overall management of the campus facilities, buildings and grounds operations and maintenance, housekeeping and fuel and energy procurement. Prior to working at UConn Health, Cliff had similar responsibilities as the Director of Physical Plant at Wesleyan University for 7 years and prior to that as Director of Engineering at Middlesex Hospital for 8 years. He also has significant facilities experience gained during his 18 years employment with Northeast Utilities (now Eversource) in HVAC facilities and project engineering for the system’s power plants. Before entering the facilities and energy fields, Cliff began his career in submarine fluid systems design.
Cliff has BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Business Administration. Besides his academic degrees, he is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Connecticut. He also holds professional certifications with the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) as a Certified Facility Manager (CFM) and as a Sustainable Facilities Professional (SFP). Cliff is a member of IFMA, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air Condtioning Engineers, Southern New England Association of Physical Plant Administrators (SNEAPPA), and the American Society of Hospital Engineers.
Cliff serves as Chair of the Owner’s Council of the University of Hartford Construction Institute. Cliff has also been a member of IFMA since 2005 and has held the position of Secretary (2012 – 2013) of the local Connecticut Chapter and he is currently Co-Vice President of the CT- IFMA’s Executive Board.
